Hi Jimmy Dan, sorry I missed your visit but delighted to read with interest your news and similar :-) background to Contin. My father had the Garage and Smiddy for many years since the 1960's, but had to sell it off after the fire destroyed the Garage and sadly put the business into debt. Anyway I recently came home in 2006 also after being in the military for many years, having also served with the Marines Plymouth/Arbroath and have spent alot of my time and money in restoring the Contin Smiddy. The building now is a warm computer repair and office supply shop employing local people, with the old bellows, forge, anvil and all the old tools safely behind glass for anyone to come and have a look at, so would love to know the history of previous blacksmiths with photos etc. Anyway as I could talk a lot about this :-) I will sign off now in the hope to hear from you about this, all the best Gordon

Hello Contin,
I was born and brought up in Contin, from where I joined the Royal Navy in 1954. I was sent to Plymouth Devon to do my training. I met and married a girl from Millbrook Cornwall and we had three children. We were up there (Contin) in August on holiday and stayed at Northmost cottage in Coul, where we were very well treated in the cottage next to where my Granny and grandad and several Aunties and Uncles lived. I went to the Contin Gala and met a few of my of my friends and acquaintances from the old days. I was mentioned in the Contin news but my name was unreckognisable. Some of you might have known my Family before the village grew and Dad was the Blacksmith. I'm rabiting now so it's time to stop. all the best to everybody, Jimmy Dan
